Serenade

Audio distribution gadgetry featuring:
     amplifiers, speakers, radios, flexible antennae,

transmitters, CD players, DVD players, wires, plugs,
adapters, and tape, concrete basement, darkness,
     LED lights
Dimensions variable

Multiple individially recorded tracks on isolated compact discs are played simultaneously through amplification equipment distributed throughout space (as in the auditory spawl of live perfomance). The instuments are cranked to levels sufficient to cause vibrations in the room, the floorboards above, and the body of the listener. Each track is released manually at nearly the same time so as to kick off (and synchronize) the orchestration as it evolves over a 6-minute crescendo. The pitch-black basement is punctuated only by the LEDs atop stacks of amplifiers and DVD players whose faint cityscape shadows obscure the chaos of equipment, cords, and installation trash.
